Service — scheduled maintenance
Car servicing that keeps the warranty and the receipts
Interim from £99, full from £179, major from £269. Correct-specification oil, quality filters, your book stamped, and a written note of anything found — whether or not you ask Erdi to do it.
The short answer
An interim service (£99) is oil, oil filter and a 30-point check — right for high-mileage cars every six months. A full service (£179) adds air, fuel and cabin filters and a fuller inspection, and suits most cars once a year. A major service (£269) adds spark plugs and a brake fluid change, usually due every two to three years.
Servicing here does not affect your manufacturer warranty. UK-retained Block Exemption rules mean any competent independent garage can service a car under warranty, provided the correct schedule, correct-spec parts and correct oil are used and the work is recorded — which is exactly what happens.
Which service does your car actually need?
Servicing is the one area where garages are most tempted to sell you the biggest option every time. It is not necessary. What your car needs depends on its age, its mileage, and how it is used — a 12,000-mile-a-year diesel doing motorway runs wants something different from a five-year-old petrol that does 3,000 miles of short journeys.
Tell Erdi the registration, the mileage and roughly what the car does, and he will tell you which service it is due, when the next one falls, and what he would genuinely leave until then.
| Job | What that covers | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| Full service | Oil change, air filter, oil filter, fluid and component inspection, wheel alignment check, brake inspection | £129from |
| Oil and filter change | Correct-specification oil for your engine, plus a visual check | £69from |
| Interim service | Oil, oil filter and a 30-point check — for high-mileage cars between full services | £89from |
| Major service | Full service plus spark plugs, fuel filter and a brake fluid change | £219from |
What goes into a full service
The word "service" covers everything from an oil change with a sticker to a proper inspection. Here is what is actually done:
- Engine oil to your manufacturer's specification. Not "5W-30" as a catch-all — the exact approval your engine requires. Modern engines with particulate filters need low-SAPS oil, and the wrong grade will block a DPF and cost you far more than the oil saved.
- Oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter. Quality brands. The cabin filter is the one every cheap service skips, and it is the one you actually breathe through.
- Brakes measured, not glanced at. Pad thickness and disc condition recorded in millimetres, so you can see how much life is left rather than being told "they'll need doing soon" for three years running.
- Tyres, including the spare. Tread depth across the width, pressures, age of the rubber, and any wear pattern that points at tracking or a worn bush.
- Fluids, belts, hoses, battery and lights. Coolant strength tested, brake fluid moisture tested, auxiliary belt checked for cracking, battery load tested.
- A written report of anything found. Split into what needs doing now, what to watch, and what is fine. No pressure and no scare tactics.
- Service book stamped, or the digital record updated.
Oil changes on their own
If your car is only doing a few thousand miles a year, a full service every twelve months can be more than it needs — but the oil still ages. An oil and filter change from £69 keeps the engine protected without paying for filters that are barely dirty. Erdi will say when that is the sensible option.
MOT preparation
MB Auto is not an MOT testing station, but a pre-MOT check is part of what happens here — and it is genuinely worth doing. Anything likely to fail gets found and quoted before the test, so you are not getting a phone call from a test centre with work already under way. Erdi will take the vehicle to a local station and back as part of the collection service.

Servicing questions
Do you collect and deliver the car?
Yes. If the vehicle runs and drives, collection and delivery is free within 5 miles of the workshop — Erdi picks it up from your home or workplace, does the work, and brings it back. Further out, and still running and driving, call or text your postcode and he will price the trip before you commit to anything. If it will not drive at all it needs recovering rather than collecting, and he will say so and point you at someone local.
Are you cheaper than a main dealer?
Considerably. The labour rate here is £60 an hour against £120–£180 at a franchised dealer, and the same manufacturer-spec parts are used. On a cambelt or a clutch that difference is usually several hundred pounds.
Will servicing here void my manufacturer warranty?
No. Under EU Block Exemption rules — retained in UK law — you can have a vehicle serviced at any competent independent garage without losing the manufacturer warranty, provided the correct schedule, correct-specification parts and correct oil are used and the work is recorded. All three are standard here, and your service book gets stamped.
Do you do MOTs?
MB Auto is not an MOT testing station, but Erdi will pre-check your vehicle, arrange the test at a local station, and take it there and back for you. Anything that needs putting right is quoted first — you will not get a phone call from a test centre with a list of work already started.
What makes of car do you work on?
All mainstream makes — Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Škoda, SEAT, Volvo, Land Rover, Mini, Fiat, Mazda, Suzuki and Dacia among them. Petrol and diesel, manual and automatic, cars, vans, SUVs and 4x4s.
